A third generation Aguero, Roberto was born December 4, 1950, in Camp Wood, Texas, and was raised in the Nueces Canyon area. He also lived on the Charles Carson ranches and Silver Lake ranch west of Barksdale as his father was a ranch hand and Vaquero.

A sheep and goat shearer by tradition, he sheared for nine years. He went on to become a high school teacher and coach, a college professor, dean, vice president, president of Eastfield College of the Dallas County Community Eastfield College District and of Austin Community College. He was vice chancellor for academic and student affairs at Eastfield College and at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth. He went on to become Vice Chancellor for Student Success at Alamo Colleges in San Antonio. Dr. Aguero retired in 2012 from Texas Southmost College in Brownsville where he helped start the new college.

Robert’s education was obtained at Nueces Canyon High School, Southwest Texas junior college, Angelo State University, Penn State University (PH.D), and Harvard University.
